At Wawne, children earn raffle tickets for… well just about anything! It might be good work, perfect manners, being thoughful, answering questions, helping out…the possibilities are endless. On a Friday each teacher draws several tickets from the bag and those children can select a prize. It might be stationary, a small toy, magazine, stickers…I wonder what’s up for grabs this week?
Today is Moving Up morning! How do you feel about your new year group, teacher or class? What are you looking forward to the most? What does it mean to move to the next year group? How are you feeling about it, any worries?
This morning KS2 held their Sports Day and what a fabulous time they had! Tom & Jack (from Fit 4 Fun) organised lots of exciting challenges and competitions. Congratulations to ‘China’ for being the top scoring team with 332 – but it was a very close call between them and ‘Nigeria’ who reached 2nd place with 330 points! Third place was earnt by Ghana (291 points) with the remaining 5 teams putting on an impressive performance too!

When the mounted horse unit from Walkington visited us, the High Sheriff of East Yorkshire Stephen Larard also came. He was observing the unit as part of his report to the Queen, the unit is closing down and the pupils & staff were upset to hear this.
We have written letters to the Chief Constable to protest as we believe it is good value for money, excellent for breaking down community barriers and part of our heritage.
The Wall hanging started last month has been constructed by Mrs Lakes and looks fabulous! It has pride of place in the entrance hall, well done to everyone involved.
